eh.

Terrible mixing, although its a good idea for a song. Kick drum clips like crazy.

The song is also very repetitive, not much variation going on here.

First, this is not progressive trance.

Mixing could use some work, including the EQing. Melodies are sort of random, no real theme going on here. Overall a somewhat amateur sound (although better than a lot of stuff).

ya i no its not .... and i hate the chorus in this song... and the melody is definetly not random... and yes EQing needs work....
i will mess with this.... i really hate that cheezy cliche high freq saw lead

Not very original.

All I hear are Vanguard arp presets (or hopefully your own presets) with very little variation. Mixing needs work, as well as mastering. Song gets boring after a listen.

ioneofmany responds:

Wow you sound like you know it all. Sorry to hear it. Please do 1up me. I didn't know we were at a label where we had to come out with top of the line custom arps, spend hours on mixing and mastering, and come out with something catchy for every track we posted here. I was under the impression that we did things because well.. we just wanted to and because we know that someone out there would like it for what it is. My bad I guess?

p.s.: You're wrong btw. I used Nexus 2 for most of it with my own arps since you can edit within it. There is one Vanguard preset around there somewhere and I like how it sounds. If you don't then that's too bad. Calling me out on sounds is just stupid if you've heard anything else I post.

Pretty good.

I'll get right into the constructive criticism.
Levels and mixing need a lot of work, as well as EQing and such. Certain parts sound overly muddy, such as some parts where the pads overpower. Filter sweep on the drums in the buildup does not sound very good (specifically the clap/snare), maybe something more original would work better.

Thanks ill keep that in mind when i work back on this

Great work.

All of your work is so professional, its a wonder you still aren't signed. One of the few songs on Newgrounds that I don't really hear a problem in.

LoL I'm taking my time, getting a portfolio of tracks. Then I'll feel more comfortable making stuff on-demand. :]

Thanks!

Good work.

Drums were done quite well, nothing was really overpowering. The chord progression was quite catchy too. Mastering sounded almost professional, and the sidechaining was done well (although possibly a bit too much; the whole thing sounded sidechained).

One thing was that it was a bit slow (120bpm is quite slow for trance), although it seemed to suit the song or something. I agree with the person below, it was quite repetitive despite it being progressive.

PS check out my newest one, you might like it.

DJ-xTc responds:

the only thing sidechained was the deadmau5 synth i had, it was originaly ment to be a house track but the chords i made made very hard for me to not make it trance. its a wip for now so thats y its repetative.

Ahh Nexus presets..

Relatively good mix and leads. One thing is that the main arp thing sounds far too much like a preset and is very repetitive, but still sounds good. Percussion is not punchy enough at all.

riptide11 responds:

trance is all about repetition. drums didn't come through in this but do in the full version. i really appreciate the review though

Good remix.

I don't think you need a ton of redundant praise so I'll just get into the criticism :P.

One think I don't like is the overly portamento'd/modulated lead. Its sort of annoying. Could also use some more in the mastering/mixing department (although the balance was done well). I had to turn up my amp to get a full sound after listening to some other music. Interesting vocal slice.

Pixelsaur responds:

Okay so now I know the master volume was turned down too low. I should fix that, maybe release an updated version... Thanks for all the criticism it really helps!

Why 6/8?

The choice to use 6/8 seems pretty useless considering the original is in 4/4. And its often easer to switch to 2/2 from 6/8, with an 8th note become triplets. That aside, there are a TON of other remixes of this song... NOT a new thing at all.

dreadnought106 responds:

Dude the original is in 6/8 u idiot :L this isnt in 6/8 u moron :L cos its dance :L That aside I know its not a new thing... well kinda at the time but now no:L Thanks for the reiview :)

Pretty good.

Great composition. I really like the chord progression.

One thing I don't like is the EQ on the vocal. Its way to bassy. Also the autotune is a bit wobbly. I know that its really hard to do (from experience) :P. Try using Melodyne for tuning stuff, it rocks.

But yeah, good job for using your own vocals.
